How do I measure a ring?

1. Find a flat, unbent card measuring 85.60 × 53.98 mm (3.370 × 2.125 in). A standard credit or debit card works. A driver's license or plain discount card works only if it has those same dimensions.
2. Put the ring on top of the card, or beside it, on a clear table. Stacking it on the card lets you frame the photo more closely. Keep other circular or rectangular objects out of the picture.
3. Keep the phone level using the crosshair. Make sure the ring and all four card corners are visible, then take a photo. You can also choose a photo you have already taken.
4. Check the card corners. Hold near a corner, then slide to line it up with the card edge using the magnifier.
5. Check the ring circle. Move its center or adjust its radius until it touches the inner edge of the ring. Confirm the edges and save the measurement.

How do I measure a finger?

Place the card horizontally above your hand on a flat surface. Spread your fingers and rest your hand gently; pressing down can make fingers look wider. Include all fingers and all four card corners in the photo.

Choose the finger you want to measure. After checking the card, slide the orange cross-section along the finger. Check that it spans the full width, including a wider section near the palm or at the knuckle. The app keeps the measurement perpendicular to the detected finger direction.

Finger circumference is estimated from visible width. Fingers are not perfect circles, so check the estimate with a physical ring sizer before ordering.

Why do repeated scans give different sizes?

Lighting, blur, camera angle, shadows, object height, and card placement can all change the result. The app corrects perspective in the card's plane; it cannot remove every effect of tilt, lens distortion, or a finger or ring sitting above that plane.

Use even lighting, keep the phone level, and take a few photos. Review the edges each time. If the results differ substantially, check your setup and use a physical ring sizer or ask a jeweler. A photo measurement is an estimate, not a guaranteed fit.

What if the app misses the card, ring, or finger?

Try a clearer background, brighter diffuse light, and a sharper photo. Remove other objects, avoid glare, separate the fingers, and keep the entire reference card in view. Review and adjust the detected edges before saving. Retake the photo if the outline does not match the object.

Can I use a card without personal information?

Yes. A plain discount or membership card is suitable if it is exactly the standard size above. Avoid bent cards and cards with nonstandard dimensions. Ring Sizer processes measurements on your iPhone and does not upload measurement photos to a server.

Which sizes and units are supported?

Ring Sizer compares 15 sizing systems, including US/Canada, UK/Australia, European circumference, Japan, Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan, India, Brazil, South Korea, Argentina, and Chile.

Choose your region and millimeters or inches in Settings. Use Converter to compare a known ring size or a measurement with another sizing system. Published charts vary; use your jeweler's chart when ordering.

Where are my measurements saved?

Confirmed measurements appear in History. Open a result to review its photo, adjustments, sizes, and notes.

The measurement folders are also available in Files → On My iPhone → Ring Sizer → Measurements. They contain the photo, result, and analysis details. Files and backups you choose to share or copy are controlled by you and their providers.

How do I delete measurements?

Delete one measurement from History or its result screen. To clear everything, open Settings → Saved measurements → Delete all measurements.

Deleting a measurement does not remove its source image from Photos, copies you have shared, or existing device or iCloud backups. See the privacy policy for details.

Do I need an account or internet connection?

No account or internet connection is needed to measure. Image processing runs on your iPhone. Opening external websites or sending a support email requires a connection. Ring Sizer has no advertising or cross-app tracking.

Why does the app need camera or motion access?

The camera takes measurement photos. Motion readings support the level guide and capture tilt information. The photo picker gives the app only the images you choose. Imported photos may include image metadata, but they do not include the app's live camera-motion readings.

Manage permissions in iOS Settings. If camera access is disabled, you can still select an existing photo using the photo picker.

Is the app free, and which iPhones can use it?

Ring Sizer is free, with no in-app purchases or subscriptions. It requires an iPhone running iOS 18 or later.
